UR Career Services
Degree-seeking students in the School of Professional & Continuing Studies have access to our SPCS Career Advisor, Becca Shelton, and to SPCS Career Services through the Office of Alumni and Career Services. Visit the SPCS section of the Career Services website for more information and to make an advising appointment.
SPCS students have full access to many valuable resources including sample résumés, cover letters, and job search advice located on the Career Services Website.
The Career Services Resource Library, located on the third floor of Tyler Haynes Commons, is also open for use during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. A wide variety of books cover résumé writing, career paths in various fields, and interviewing skills.
Career Services hosts periodic Career and Industry Expos as well as a variety of other events.
Career and Life Development Course
HUM 313U Career & Life Development is a credit-earning course designed as a practical, hands-on study of the topic of career and life development for adults. Topics include the stages and challenges of adulthood, life transitions, goal setting and life balance. The class also includes individualized career research, career management strategies and job search guidelines. Participants in the class take the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory and receive personalized feedback.
