Course Projects: Learn by Doing

The Professional Certificate is structured to follow the lifecycle of an actual UX program of work. During each stage of the process, from research through to prototyping, you’ll get the opportunity to practice some of the most important UX techniques. In addition to giving you invaluable experience, these hands-on projects will give you ready-made material for your professional portfolio.

Research Projects

1. Note-taking

Observe usability tests and practice taking notes of key insights from the sessions.

2. Usability test

Set-up, moderate and record your own usability test with a real research participant, to understand their goals, pain-points and behaviors.

Analysis Projects

3. Affinity diagram

Review all the research gathered during your previous projects and create an affinity diagram to represent what you’ve learned so far.

4. Journey map

Build an overall picture of the user’s experience with a journey map, highlighting the main pain points and positive interactions they encountered during the usability testing.

Design Projects

5. User diagram

Develop a high-level booking flow for your website or app, from the homepage to the booking summary screen.

6. Sketching

Sketch the screens for the booking process on paper before creating your digital prototype.

Prototype & Validation Projects

7. Prototype

Create an interactive prototype for your mobile or desktop app in Figma.

8. Prototype testing

Conduct a usability test with your prototype to gain insight into how it works with real users.

9. Annotations

Create annotations for your desktop or mobile app detailing desired function and behavior.

Assessment

Project Work

You are required to submit 9 projects. You will be given a grade, with feedback, for each project submitted. Projects account for 70% of the overall assessment.

Online Exam

Once all projects have been submitted, you can take the online multiple-choice exam. Retakes are available if you don’t pass the first time. Exam accounts for 30% of the overall assessment.
