Certificates at SPCS
The School of Professional & Continuing Studies awards undergraduate and graduate certificates. As one of five schools of the University, our certificates are issued by the University of Richmond. SPCS certificates are issued by the University of Richmond and include both the School in which the certificate was earned and the name of the certificate. Our academic certificates are considered degrees, and academic certificate earners participate in Commencement Exercises.

Undergraduate Certificates
Our undergradate Certificates of Applied Studies (CAS) require 18-21 semester hours at the undergraduate level. No prior coursework can be transferred into our certificates. We offer the CAS in Data Analytics, Information Security, Information Systems and Paralegal Studies.
- A bachelor’s degree is required for admission to all CAS programs.
Graduate Certificates
Our Graduate Certificates (GC) require 18-22 semester hours at the graduate level. No prior coursework can be transferred in our certificates. We offer Graduate Certificates in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies, Human Resource Management and Nonprofit Studies.
- A master’s degree is required for admission to the GC in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher is required for admission to the GC in HR Management.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher is required for admission to the GC in Nonprofit Studies.
