Kate Cassada, Ed.D.
Kate M. Cassada, Ed.D., serves as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the School of Professional and Continuing Studies, chair of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, and Associate Professor of Education.
As Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Cassada provides leadership for and oversight of the administration of all areas related to academic programs and faculty support functions of the School. She also serves as a resource for full-time faculty members in the areas of teaching, program administration, and scholarship.
As a career educator, Cassada is a relentless supporter of educators and those being educated. She has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses at the University of Richmond since 2010. Throughout her career, Cassada has developed and implemented university/K-12 partnerships to support current and aspiring leaders. Prior to joining the University of Richmond, Cassada taught at the University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University.
Cassada’s scholarship centers around education issues affecting K-12 children and schools, addressing leadership development, instructional coaching, reflective teaching practices, and non-traditional partnerships. Currently, she explores K-12 education-related issues as a regular contributor to Forbes.
Prior to her roles in higher education, Cassada served as a public school classroom teacher, senior teacher, assistant principal, and principal.
Active in her service to the University and profession, Cassada has served in a variety of roles including as the SPCS representative on the University Faculty Senate, Director of the Center for Leadership in Education, and is immediate past-president of Virginia Professors of Educational Leadership.
