Volunteer for Osher

Lead an Osher Program

Take your passion for learning to the next level by leading a program for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. To propose a mini course or lecture that you want to lead, please complete our Course/Lecture Planning Guide. Osher program leaders serve as volunteers.

Whether you’re a prospective or current Osher program leader, the Osher Institute offers a seasoned member-instructor to help you plan your lecture or mini course. Check the Schedule of Classes for contact information and upcoming workshop dates.

Be sure to review the Standard Classroom Technology Configuration page, which often includes updated training sessions and videos, provided by Information Services.

A recently developed resource for new instructors is a video featuring three Osher instructors, each of whom offers ideas and insights into their varied and successful methods of teaching. We hope you’ll watch this and gather some suggestions and guidance.

Volunteer in the Osher Program

Members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute are invited to participate in many aspects of the Institute. We hope that through member volunteers, we will not only expand what we can accomplish in terms of classes and programs, but also increase the connection for Osher members with everything we do through the Osher Institute.

Volunteer opportunities are listed below. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Osher office at osher@richmond.edu.

  • Leader for an Osher course
  • Class assistant for a course
  • Audio/Visual aide for a course
  • Project team member for:
    • Curriculum
    • Marketing: Promote the Osher Institute
    • Member Engagement

Participate in the Osher Give Back Program

The Osher Give Back Program connects Osher member volunteers to volunteer opportunities in the School of Professional & Continuing Studies that match their unique skillsets, abilities, expertise and professional experience. Volunteer opportunities are available in three categories:

  • Program and Instructional Support
  • Career and Professional Support
  • Administrative Support

Join the Osher Leadership Council

The Osher Leadership Council serves in an advisory capacity to the Osher staff, and its members serve in leadership roles throughout the Institute (chairs of committees, coordinators of events, volunteers across campus, etc.). Each member serves a three-year term.
