Academic Skills Center

The Academic Skills Center provides University of Richmond students with support that will enhance their academic experience and personal development. The Center assists students in understanding and learning ways to improve their cognitive skills, thus maximizing their collegiate experience.

Libraries

The University of Richmond Libraries provide services that suit the needs of all learners, whether on campus or hundreds of miles away.

  • The library’s Ask Boatwright FAQ provides instruction on the use of the proxy server for access to licensed databases and download and installation instructions for establishing a Virtual Private Network connection.
  • The Ask a Librarian Web page lists ways to use various communication technologies to seek one-to-one assistance from a reference librarian. Start by contacting the a library liaison.
  • The Library’s collection of electronic books available to the UR community is extensive. Follow the link to access a searchable listing.
  • The library's list of research databases provides access to nearly 200 databases selected to support the university's curricula.
  • A guide to online reference sources links to helpful reference resources. Some are available on the free Web; others are free but require students to log in with netID and password.
  • The research guides by subject are available on the library Web site and provide lists of resources, in print and online, by organized by academic subject
  • The online catalog and the Journal Titles Search provide access to print and electronic resources in the libraries' collections.
  • Getting Started with Library Research offers tips to students not sure of how to get started in their search for information.

CompTIA Certification Exam and CertMaster Discount

The University of Richmond is a CompTIA Authorized Academy Partner. Our partnership enables us to offer preferred academic pricing on CompTIA certification exams and CertMaster to anyone with a UR email address.

Online Writing Lab (OWL)

The Richmond OWL, exclusively available to enrolled SPCS students, offers the services of a professional writing tutor for free. Richmond OWL is easily accessed via e-mail. You can also schedule an appointment with an SPCS writing specialist in the University Writing Center.

The Weinstein-Jecklin Speech Center offers assistance to those who wish to pursue effective speaking and articulate behavior across academic disciplines. The Speech Center is designed to meet the needs of all members of the University community.

The on-campus Writing Center offers a program that assists University of Richmond writers at all levels of experience. The Center provides experienced tutors who offer friendly critiques for written work in any major.
