Registering for Classes

To successfully register for classes, you will use BannerWeb, the University’s online student information system. Follow the three steps below to use BannerWeb’s updated interface.

Registration for the upcoming term typically begins approximately six weeks before classes start. Check the appropriate Academic Calendar for exact dates and deadlines.

Step 1: Plan Your Schedule

Before you log into BannerWeb, we strongly recommend you view the SPCS Academic Schedule.

Use this online schedule to plan your courses and record the CRNs (Course Reference Numbers) for the sections you want to take.
This interface is the easiest way to find classes by instructional method (e.g., hybrid, remote, online, or in-person).

Step 2: Check Your Eligibility

Use the Prepare for Registration feature in BannerWeb to confirm you're ready to enroll.

Log into BannerWeb at bannerweb.richmond.edu.
Note: DUO is required for access to Banner Self-Service from off-campus.
Select the Students tile.
Click the Prepare for Registration link.
Select the upcoming term and confirm your registration eligibility.
Important: Check for any listed holds. Any holds must be cleared before you will be allowed to register.

Step 3: Register for Classes

Once your holds are cleared, use the Register for Classes link to finalize your enrollment. Tutorial videos for using BannerWeb are also available.

Option A: Register using CRNs (Recommended)
If you already have your CRNs from Step 1:
1. Select the Register for Classes link and choose the upcoming term.
2. Select the Enter CRNs tab.
3. Enter one or more CRNs and click the Add to Summary button.
4. When finished, click the Submit button.
5. If accepted with no errors, the course status will change to Registered.
Option B: Search & Register in BannerWeb
If you need to search for classes directly in BannerWeb:
1. Select the Register for Classes link and choose the upcoming term.
2. Select the Find Classes tab.
3. To list all SPCS classes, click the Advanced Search link (under the Keyword entry).
4. In the Advanced Search interface, scroll to the Campus field and select
  Sch of Prof&Continuing Studies from the drop-down list. Then, click the Search button.
  Tip: The default view shows 10 classes. You can increase this value to list more results.
5. Once you find a section, use the Add button to place it in your summary.
6. Click the Submit button.
7. If accepted with no errors, the course status will change to Registered.
