Center for Leadership in Education update
Next Generation Leadership Academy (NGLA)
The Center for Leadership in Education (CLE) was proud to kick off its Next Generation Leadership Academy this fall for the 19th consecutive year. In partnership with school divisions of Amelia, Caroline, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, and New Kent Counties, and Richmond Public Schools, NGLA hosts nearly 50 local current and aspiring school leaders who will engage in a yearlong exploration of relevant topics with top education and leadership experts.
Highlighted topics include:
- supporting high-quality instruction through literacy leadership;
- an exploration into educational leadership and exemplary practices;
- trauma-responsive and inclusive practice;
- cultivating a collaborative culture; and
- effective communication and coaching for sustainable growth.
Founded in 2005 by Dr. Tom Shields, NGLA maintains a mission to provide meaningful professional development for instructional, transformational, and organizational leadership through a combination of speakers, coursework, and practical application. CLE Director, Dr. Kate Cassada, and NGLA Coordinator, Dr. Dana Jackson, look forward to welcoming NGLA participants to campus monthly for this enriching experience.
Teacher LEAD
Teacher LEAD is a partnership between Chesterfield County Schools Office of Professional Learning and the Center for Leadership in Education. This past summer, Dr. Dana Jackson and Dr. Kate Cassada led an energized group of CCPS aspiring leaders through a multi-day workshop exploring leadership in educational contexts.
