The School of Professional & Continuing Studies offers professional training and development classes and programs focused on data analysis, addressing both collection, storage, and analysis of data sources and communicating and visualizing results of analysis.
Our professional classes and programs cover such topics as statistics, tools used to collect data, and analysis methods and platforms.
Our Data Analytics classes and programs seek to extend the values and resources of a liberal arts education into sustainable data collection practices and ethical data communication and visualization.

Career-Curious & Enrichment Programs
LERN Certificate in Data Analysis
Online: Begins with a basic understanding of how to analyze data in a business setting. Then learn how business decisions involve comparing groups for differences, and learn the statistics behind these group differences and relationships. Find out how to perform inquiries useful to your business or organization, and build the skills necessary to communicate these results. Instructor-led (start dates vary) through LERN.
Introduction to Data Analysis
Online: This course will introduce the different types of decisions made in an organizational setting, why quantitative analytics is important, and how data quality can affect decision making. Since quantitative analytics is used in various settings, this intermediate-level course also offers insight into how research is used in different sectors. Tools of Data Analysis
Online: There are a number of statistical tools and techniques that are commonly used by organizations to inform decision-making. These tools span numerous business functions and support many different objectives. Data Analysis in the Real World
Online: This course discusses data-driven decision making across a variety of sectors such as healthcare, education, and government. This course also offers recommendations for decision-making based on data analytics for each sector. Data Analytics Boot Camp
Powered by Trilogy: In partnership with Trilogy Education Services, 24-week Data Analytics Boot Camp that will empower you to gain the knowledge and skills to conduct robust analytics on a host of real-world problems. This intensive program meets entirely online. UR Data Analytics Boot Camp is a part-time program with convenient sessions tailored to the needs of working adults and part-time students. Data Analysis for Improving Organizational Performance
Online: This intermediate-level course will introduce measures and tools, describe specific measurements, and explain the relationship between assessment and strategy. Summarizing the data with the correct tool can be the gating factor to reaching staff and effecting changes that spur performance improvement. Self-paced (three months access) through MindEdge.
Statistics as a Managerial Tool
Online: This intermediate-level course examines statistics as a managerial tool. It also looks at common graphical representations of data and how these can be effective tools to explain situations and support persuasive arguments for a course of action. Statistical Process Control
Online: Statistical Process Control is all about boosting quality. Quality management can not only deliver value to customers and stakeholders, it can also enable data-driven decision making that helps organizations gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace. This intermediate-level course will introduce the basics of quality management, explaining the difference between quality control and quality assurance, provide methods for application of analysis, and show different applications of the Seven Basic Quality Tools.
