Schoeneman receives Distinguished Educator Award

Dr. Andrew Schoeneman, assistant professor and chair of nonprofit studies, was named a University of Richmond Distinguished Educator Award recipient at the annual Colloquy celebration held August 17, 2022. He was recognized for his ongoing administration, pedagogy, scholarship and service work.

Shields Convenes Civil Rights & Education Roundtable

Tom Shields, associate dean and education program chair, joined VCU collaborators Kim Bridges and Genevieve Siegel-Hawley to convene a roundtable discussion titled “Preserving & Expanding Educational Civil Rights in Virginia.” Researchers, policy experts & civil rights lawyers participated toward developing a research & advocacy network that affirms the role of public education, diversity, and equity in an increasingly multiracial and diverse state.

Teigen Named Powhatan Schools Superintendent

Beth Teigen, adjunct assistant professor of education, has been named superintendent of Powhatan County Public Schools effective July 1. She joins Powhatan after serving in Henrico County Public Schools, overseeing the departments of assessment, research and evaluation, as well as policy and constituency relations.
