Roger Mancastroppa

Mancastroppa has earned a Master of Science in Education, a Master of Arts in Theology and a Bachelor of Science in History. He taught history and religion for over a decade before joining the University. Mancastroppa teaches religious studies and knowledge management course for the School of Professional and Continuing Studies.

Mancastroppa is in his fourth year as the Associate Director for Academic Skills at the University of Richmond where he assists students individually and collectively with academic skill development. Mancastroppa helps students transition from a rote memorization learning style to conceptualizing information through the engagement of their meta-cognitive executive functions. He coordinates the Peer Academic Skills Tutor program (PAST) and assists with the coordination of the Peer Advisor and Mentor program (PAM).

Mancastroppa’s university engagement has broadened significantly as he has been invited to present for academic advisor training; Bystander Training; the Richmond College and Westhampton New Student Welcomes; SPCS, International, and Transfer orientations; Pre-O; as the Keynote Speaker for Orientation Advisor Training; Campus Partners Breakfast; Realize Richmond; The Answer; COUNTS; Experience Richmond, and others. He is the Marketing Chair for the Spiders Step-Up initiative, he is on the executive committee of the University Staff Advisory Council, and serves on the University Hearing Board. He uses every opportunity to collaborate collectively across campus, always seeking the benefit of the students, staff, faculty and the institution. Most recently, he is collaborating to help create a stress reduction group for staff and faculty that will be extended to the student body this spring.
