With a distinguished career spanning three decades, editor and writer Lee Anna A. Jackson has built an expansive portfolio across major national publications and media outlets in New York City. Her career began in broadcast journalism, working for Jack Cafferty’s Newsline New York on Fox-NY, the nationally syndicated program, A Current Affair, and Thirteen/WNET. Lee Anna went on to host a holiday special that aired on Fox NY, reported locally for BronxNet News and Meet the Mayor for the City of Yonkers, and filed satellite news reports from Holland — laying a strong foundation in storytelling, reporting, and live media production.
Currently, Lee Anna serves as editor of the University of Richmond’s UR Now online digest. She’s written in-depth features and columns on career development, travel, culture, and consumer affairs for outlets such as Inc., Essence magazine, Yale Alumni Magazine, and Black Enterprise. Her editorial voice has also been featured in spiritually focused commentary and celebrity profiles across various platforms, including USATODAY.com, BET.com, and Jubilee Magazine. Lee Anna has held editorial roles with Message Magazine and Woman’s Day special issues, among others, and developed health-focused content for Weight Watchers, including its 2022 Black History Month initiative.
In conjunction with her journalism and editorial work, she has taught creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College, SUNY Purchase, the Baccalaureate School for Global Education, and Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. Since 2001, she’s also worked as a senior editorial researcher and fact-checker for publications such as Yale Alumni Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Consumer Reports, Redbook, Emergence, and Ladies’ Home Journal.
Demonstrating both range and depth as a writer, her original fiction will appear this fall in Callaloo journal, highlighting a creative evolution that spans nonfiction, cultural commentary, and literary storytelling.

Responsible for planning, editing, writing and other daily functions of managing Message Magazine (September 1995-February 1998). Also served as associate editor for Woman's Day SIPs January-November 2000). Edited various newsletters based on PBS programs and distributed to a national audience for Thirteen/WNET (April 1991-August 1994).
