Academic Admissions

As a private university, the University of Richmond can use its resources and independence not only to meet the educational needs of traditional age college students, but also to provide enriching and meaningful undergraduate and graduate experiences for adult students and working professionals. Our History of Serving Adult Learners

Established in 1962 as University College, SPCS has been serving working professionals for nearly 60 years. We know and understand the needs of adult students. We’ve been serving adult learners in Richmond since before the Virginia Community College System was established in 1966 and before Virginia Commonwealth University was established by the merger of the Richmond Professional Institute and the Medical College of Virginia in 1968.

The University of Richmond is the only top-25 national private university with a school dedicated to professional and continuing studies. As a result, when you study at SPCS, you’re part of a vibrant and inspiring traditional college campus. Walk the paths between our collegiate Gothic buildings, cross the footbridge over our lake, attend an upcoming information session and imagine yourself as a student here.
