UR Au Pair

UR Au Pair at the University of Richmond School of Professional & Continuing Studies (SPCS) is a program designed to help international au pairs fulfill their required annual educational credits while immersing themselves in the rich cultural traditions of Richmond, Virginia.

At SPCS, we’ve been designing classes specifically for au pairs from around the world for over a decade. Our weekend immersion experiences offer rewarding sessions on the beautiful University of Richmond campus and include cultural and historical sites in the Richmond region.

We offer affordable and flexible educational options that include weekend classes along with one-time and multi-day professional education courses. We can help you fulfill all of your au pair educational credits — be sure to confirm with your agency the requirements for your au pair cluster.

UR Au Pair Weekend Immersion

Earn 3 au pair educational credits (36 hours) for full attendance and successful completion of course requirements. Each weekend immersion fee covers tuition, all materials, free parking on campus, museum admission fees (if applicable) and University of Richmond Certificates of Completion. Our programs include the following:

Public Speaking & Communication

Enjoy a fun and educational weekend of learning and practicing public speaking and presentation skills in English. Improve your general communication skills, develop greater confidence in speaking, and practice your writing skils. A variety of engaging written and oral activities is included in these weekend sessions.

Art & Film Exploration

These weekend sessions introduce participants to a featured American film followed by interactive group discussions of each film’s cultural and artistic themes. Students are introduced to watercolor painting and/or charcoal drawing techniques, then complete works of art inspired by the film. No previous art experience is needed.

Cultural Perspectives

Historical and cultural areas unique to Richmond and the surrounding area are introduced in these weekend sessions. When feasible, weekends may include visits to museums and other local venues. Sessions may also include lessons in professional etiquette and business writing. Personal wellness and special interest topics are also available.
