SPCS Alumni Association Board of Directors Description

Reports To: The SPCS Alumni Association Board of Directors reports to the president of the SPCS Alumni Association.

Objective: The purpose of the Board of Directors is to actively support and serve as an ambassador in the Richmond community for SPCS and the University of Richmond.

Term Length: Board members are elected to serve two-year terms. Terms run annually from May 15 to May 14 the following year. Newly elected board members begin meeting in May at the start of their terms. Nominees must be graduates of University College, SCS, or SPCS and may be submitted using the online nomination form. Self nominations are welcome.

Time Commitment: Board members are expected to attend a majority of Board meetings and special events during the academic year. They are also expected to commit the time required to complete the tasks of their Board role and/or committee.

Responsibilities

Board members support the School’s mission and initiatives. They do so in the following ways:

  • Actively participate in the life of the School and the University
  • Are fully briefed on current strategic planning and objectives
  • Attend Board meetings and events, and volunteer for special projects
  • Serve on at least one committee/subcommittee
  • Assist in fundraising efforts
  • Contribute an annual gift to the SPCS annual fund or SPCS scholarship fund, ensuring 100% Board participation
  • Serve as ambassadors in the metro Richmond community through business and leisure connections
