SPCS Student Update

Lat Peak, a Master of Teaching (MT) student, has been hired into Collegiate School’s Fellow’s Program, a teaching apprenticeship program designed for early-career teachers.

The Fellows’ Program is designed for early-career teachers and for anyone changing careers to work in an independent school. The purpose of the Fellows’ Program is to provide aspiring educators with the mentorship, classroom experience, and pedagogical background necessary to become a lead classroom teacher or school professional.

After working in the corporate world for four years, Peak reflected on his experiences training new employees at his company, a role he enjoyed. He also reflected on his own education and on the teachers who had a profound impact on his adolescence.

Peak decided that he was ready for a career change and applied to the MT program in SPCS. Shortly after beginning the program, his wife’s company transferred her to London. Peak was able to work on his degree remotely. He applied to the Fellows’ Program as his time in London drew to a close. He is very excited about this program and the work that he is doing with colleagues and mentors at Collegiate.
