Bruce McKechnie named paralegal studies program coordinator

The University of Richmond School of Professional and Continuing Studies (SPCS) has named Adjunct Associate Professor Bruce McKechnie as program coordinator for the Paralegal Studies program. The appointment was effective Dec. 15, 2025.

In this part-time role, McKechnie will provide general oversight of the Paralegal Studies curriculum and program, support student matters, facilitate connections across the program, attend Paralegal Studies events, and strengthen strategic relationships among the school, program and community partners.

McKechnie brings deep knowledge of the legal and paralegal fields and longstanding familiarity with the SPCS Paralegal Studies program. He has served as an adjunct faculty member in SPCS since 2014. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory University, a Juris Doctor from Syracuse University and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University.

SPCS offers undergraduate and post-baccalaureate certificates in Paralegal Studies designed for working professionals seeking to begin or advance careers in legal services. As program coordinator, McKechnie will help ensure the program’s curriculum remains aligned with industry expectations and supports student success and community engagement.
