SPCS Commencement

The School of Professional & Continuing Studies recognized 103 graduating students and graduation candidates during its 61st Commencement Exercises on May 11, 2024. The ceremony was held in the Robins Center arena on the University of Richmond campus.

By tradition, the School invites three speakers to address graduates: a graduating student selected by the faculty members, an alum of the School selected by members of the SPCS Alumni Association Board, and an adjunct member of the faculty nominated by the student body. This year’s speakers were the following individuals:

  • Student Commencement Speaker: Zariah Chiverton, ’22, who earned a Master of Liberal Arts
  • Gibb Family Distinguished Alumni Awardee: Annette Ardler, C’01
  • Itzkowitz Family Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Awardee: Elisabeth Wray, W’74, G’77

Students who completed requirements for graduation in December 2023 and May 2024 were conferred certificates and diplomas during the ceremony, while students who plan to complete their graduation requirements in August 2024 received a confirmation of their intent to graduate when crossing the stage.
