CompTIA Certification Exam and CertMaster Discount

The University of Richmond is a CompTIA Authorized Academy Partner. Our partnership enables us to offer preferred academic pricing on CompTIA certification exams and CertMaster.

  • To purchase a discounted exam voucher or CertMaster at the preferred academic pricing, visit the CompTIA Academic Marketplace at academic.compTIAstore.com and use your @richmond.edu email address to create an account (My Account > New Customers).
  • Alumni who have not yet activated their @richmond.edu email address should visit the Alumni SSO Credential Service at https://wwws.richmond.edu/alumni to set up their email address.
  • This discount is available to current UR students, faculty, and staff along with alumni. To take advantage of this discount, you must use your @richmond.edu email address.

rvatech/ Partnership Summary

Through the efforts of the School of Professional and Continuing Studies, the University of Richmond is now a Chairman Partner of rvatech/, the Richmond Technology Council. Our partnership offers free access to networking events and early bird pricing to signature conferences and programs for all University faculty, staff and students.

  • To register for a networking event (including legislative luncheons and breakfasts), University of Richmond staff, faculty and students simply use your UR email when registering online for an event.
  • To take advantage of Early Bird pricing to register for a conference, University of Richmond staff, faculty and students simply use your UR email when you register online and enter the discount code for the event, which SPCS will shared via SpiderBytes.
  • We encourage faculty, staff and students with an interest to explore volunteer opportunities for rvatech/ committees or the Board of Directors.

Note: Some events may require registrants to reach out to an rvatech/ staff member to receive the free partner registration benefit. If so, you’ll see a note on the registration page, and an rvatech/ staff member will have to register you for the event or provide you with a discount code.

Tuition Remission

Human Resources offers generous tuition remission opportunities for full-time staff employees. Review the University’s Tuition Remission Policy.

Benefits apply to staff members, their spouses and dependent children. These benefits can be applied to lifelong learning and professional development courses from the Think Again catalog as well as for academic courses in our degree programs.

Online Registration using Tuition Remission

Faculty and staff new to the University will need to set up their accounts in our online registration portal. The account creation page provides an illustrated guide to setting up accounts in order to use the registration system to apply and track tuition remission benefit use. All newly hired personnel are entered into the system; this page helps set up an online profile that’s tied to already-entered details.

Professional Development

SPCS offers a wide range of professional development opportunities that may be incorporated into staff members’ performance feedback and development plans.

Certificates

  • We offer many professional programs that can be earned by taking one or just a few courses. Among the programs available are digital marketing, beer brewing and geographical information systems (GIS).
  • We offer certificates in nonprofit marketing, board development, grant writing and fundraising through the School’s Institute on Philanthropy.
  • We offer interior decorating certificates through our Interior Decorating program.
  • We offer course work toward Certified Financial Planner™ certification.

SPCS also offers online courses through educational partners that will enrich or enhance existing skills.

Lifelong Learning

Lifelong learning is an important component of workplace health and wellness. In addition to the Weinstein Center’s free fitness programming for Weinstein Center members, SPCS is pleased to offer leisure courses in categories like Financial Management and Wellness.

In partnership with the Institute of Reading Development (IRD), IRD provides University faculty, staff, partners and dependents discounted tuition on reading development classes during the summer.

Staff ages 50 and better can also become UR members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for as little as $25 per year. Simply complete the membership application and submit with your payment to start taking advantage of everything Osher has to offer!

Academic Programs

SPCS offers undergraduate degrees in Data Analytics, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Liberal Arts and Paralegal Studies. We also offer undergraduate certificates* in Data Analytics, Information Systems and Paralegal Studies.

At the graduate level, we offer degrees in Education, Human Resource Management, Liberal Arts and Nonprofit Studies. We offer graduate certificates in Education, Human Resource Management and Nonprofit Studies.

For professional development or personal enrichment, staff members may also enroll as non-degree seeking students in individual undergraduate or graduate classes** that have no prerequisites.
