Earn a graduate degree in nonprofit studies

Prepare for growth in the nonprofit sector

Growth in the non-profit sector has been explosive over the past decade. Nonprofits need leaders who understand the unique role “the third sector” plays in today’s world. Increasingly, nonprofits are a vital and vibrant part of the local and global economy.

A graduate credential in nonprofit studies.

The University of Richmond School of Professional and Continuing Studies offers two graduate-level programs focused exclusively on nonprofit studies:

  • Master of Nonprofit Studies (10 classes, 5 core and 5 elective)
  • Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Studies (5 classes, may be applied toward the master’s degree)

Enter the non-profit sector or advance your career in a nonprofit organization with a master’s degree or graduate certificate. Part-time and full-time students are welcome.

Combine theory and practical knowledge.

Our program combines theoretical background with practical knowledge needed to enter the nonprofit sector or advance your nonprofit career. Learn nonprofit fundraising and development. Focus on volunteer management and nonprofit grant writing. Study under experienced nonprofit leaders, board members and staff. And identify and address real-world challenges facing nonprofits today.
