Professional Development

Professional development relates to your job or career, and it focuses on adding or improving specialized knowledge or specific skills for a job, either one you currently have or a job you hope to attain.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment Projections for 2024, over 46 million jobs will open in the next ten years that require a post-secondary educational credential, either as college coursework or as a non-degree certificate.

And for working professionals, continuing professional development it is a career-long obligation to ensure high-quality, state-of-the-art outcomes that keep up with the rapid pace of change.

The School of Professional and Continuing Studies offers credit-earning classes and noncredit courses and programs that may be used for professional development. At SPCS, we offer transcripted CEUs earned in noncredit programs and transcripted semester hours earned in credit programs. Your may request transcripts for noncredit programs through SPCS and transcripts for credit programs through the University Registrar.

As you consider your Professional Development needs, don’t limit yourself to the listings on this page. Consider non-degree seeking opportunities and explore all of our programs — you might find a summer teacher institute for teacher licensure renewal or a single credit-earning undergraduate class that meets your needs perfectly.

If you’re not sure whether a class or program will work for professional development, give us a call, send us an email, message us on Facebook or send us a tweet. We’d love to hear from you!
