Earn your degree in liberal arts

Why choose a degree in Liberal Arts?

Enhance your career options with a bachelor’s or master’s degree from the University of Richmond.

  • Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts (BALA) — majors in Liberal Arts and Weekend College Interdisciplinary Studies
  • Master of Liberal Arts (MLA) — customized concentrations or a concentration in Public History

A well-rounded educational experience.

Employers seek managers and directors who demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively — both in writing and in speaking — and to make data-driven decisions based in careful problem analysis.

By earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree in liberal arts from the School of Professional and Continuing Studies, you have the opportunity to develop your ability to write well, communicate effectively, work with groups, engage in problem solving, and think critically — timeless skills that apply to every part of life.

Opportunities to specialize.

A liberal arts degree isn’t limited to broad-based cultural studies. We offer many different customized opportunities in our undergraduate program of study. We offer an expanded undergraduate concentration in elementary education toward Virginia teacher licensure. And we offer a 6-course customized concentration in our Master of Liberal Arts program.
