COVID-19 Temporary Academic Policy
The following academic policy has been adopted in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and subsequent changes in instructional delivery and learning experiences.
Temporary Grading Policy
The School of Professional and Continuing Studies has created the following grading option available only for Spring 2021 for credit-bearing courses offered in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies:
SPCS students have the option to receive a standard letter grade (A-F) OR to opt for a Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) grading option for Spring 2021 only. This option applies to only one class of the student’s choosing for the Spring 2021 semester.
Undergraduate Courses
The level of performance necessary to earn credit in a CR/NC course is D- or better, consistent with the current standards for P/F courses and Satisfactory Academic Progress.
- A passing grade will be recorded as CR on the permanent record. The credit will be added into credit earned toward graduation and will not affect the grade point average.
- A failing grade will be recorded as NC on the permanent record and will not affect the grade point average.
Graduate Courses
The level of performance necessary to earn credit in a CR/NC course is B- or better, consistent with the current standards for P/F courses and Satisfactory Academic Progress.
- A passing grade will be recorded as CR on the permanent record. The credit will be added into credit earned toward graduation and will not affect the grade point average.

Choose Your Option
Students may select the CR/NC grading option for any single course in which they are enrolled in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies in Spring 2021 by completing a survey emailed to each student by the Registrar’s Office.
- The deadline for making your selection is 5 p.m. EDT on April 15, 2021.
- Selecting the CR/NC grading option for the course is permanent. The course may not be returned to a standard grading option.
