Summer Study in Recanati — May 5–June 9, 2017

Recanati is a historic town in the Province of Macerata, in the Marche region of central Italy, along the Adriatic coast. Founded around 1150 CE from three pre-existing castles, it is the hometown of tenor Beniamino Gigli and poet Giacomo Leopardi, which is why Recanati is known as “the city of poetry.”

The surrounding area of rolling hills is dotted with beautifully preserved medieval villages, and the nearby coastline facing a deep blue sea features a spectacular marine and forest national park.

Art, history, poetry and natural scenery harmoniously blend in this region. You can feel the convergence in Recanati, where you can walk atop the wall that surrounds the city and where you would live in a renovated convent that dates to the 1200s.
