Osher Institute Hikers
All Osher members are welcome to participate in our Hiking Group. We hike at least once a month from September through June. Most of our hikes are moderate in difficulty with one or two more strenuous hikes per season. Our designated “urban” hike usually includes lunch at a local venue, while the remaining hikes are “brown bag” events. We generally meet at a central location and car pool to the trailhead. Our goal is to return to campus no later than 5 p.m. We generally stay within a two-hour radius of Richmond. More specific information is distributed with each hike announcement (e.g., elevation change, distance, degree of difficulty, etc.). Reminder: This is a hiking group not a walking group.
Emails will be sent out 2-3 weeks before a scheduled hike. Acknowledgement emails with detailed information will be sent out approximately 10 days before the hike to those registered. A hike may be cancelled due to inclement weather. If possible, the hike will be rescheduled at a later date.
Osher members are encouraged to bring a guest to our hikes prior to joining the group. Pets are not allowed on our hikes.
