Legal Nurse Consulting
General Information

This certificate course will prepare you to begin a career as a legal nurse consultant. This certificate course is formatted for 90 contact hours of self-paced study with mentor feedback if needed. Upon completion of the course, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion in Legal Nurse Consulting.

Certificate course objectives:

  • To prepare registered nurses to enter the practice of Legal Nurse Consulting with sufficient knowledge for practice at a standard required by the employment market.
  • To prepare registered nurses to practice in a variety of practice settings as a legal nurse consultant including; medical and nursing malpractice, expert witness role, toxic torts, product liability, insurance industry, law firms, health care related organizations, and as an entrepreneurial legal nurse consultant.
  • To gain the knowledge and skills required to comprehensively analyze cases for attorney clients, or other types of clients.
  • To learn effective report writing skills and presentation skills for analyzed cases.
  • To understand and practice legal nurse consulting with regards to high ethics and adherence.
  • To prepare new legal nurse consultants to increase their body of knowledge related to the practice of legal nurse consulting for personal and career growth.
  • To prepare registered nurses and practicing legal nurse consultants to successfully achieve certification by examination.
  • To prepare legal nurse consultants to develop their own marketing plans for career and business growth.
  • To provide legal nurse consultants with a college level credential for the practice of legal nurse consulting.

Medical Coding (ICD-10)
General Information

ICD-10 is an upgraded diagnostic and procedural medical coding system that, by law, must be implemented throughout the healthcare industry by October 1, 2015. This new coding system is radically different from the version currently in use, so it’s important to start preparing for and implementing the massive changes to the existing coding system.

This online program offers you comprehensive, robust training in diagnostic and procedural coding, using the ICD-10-CM (diagnostic) and ICD-10-PCS (procedural) coding manuals. This training includes detailed instructions for using the coding manuals, understanding the coding guidelines, and accurately applying the ICD-10 coding steps. There are more than 40 quizzes and exams for diagnoses and procedures by body system to test your knowledge and understanding.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this program, you'll be able to:

  • Understand the structure of an ICD-10-CM code
  • Navigate the layout of the ICD-10-CM coding manual

Requirements & Prerequisites

This program can only be taken on a PC. It is not Mac compatible. It is compatible with Windows XP and later operating systems and IE 7 and later browsers. In order to take this program, you should have some knowledge of medical terminology. Education in anatomy and physiology is strongly recommended, but not required.This program is for anyone in the healthcare industry who wants to master medical coding in general, and/ or ICD-10 medical coding specific. Coding experience is not required.

National Pharmaceutical Representative
General Information

The Certified National Pharmaceutical Representative Online Training Program will help you become an entry-level, certified pharmaceutical sales representative, even if you don't have pharmacology or medical education.

The goal of the Certified National Pharmaceutical Representative (CNPR) Online Training Program is to develop your knowledge in clinical pharmacology, physiology, and medical terminology. This knowledge will greatly enhance your understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and its selling process, and it will increase your hiring potential.

The CNPR Program was developed in partnership with the National Association of Pharmaceutical Sales Representatives (NAPSR). This unique training program will prepare you for a new career as a pharmaceutical sales representative and for national certification through NAPSR. As a registered student of the CNPR program, you'll automatically become a member of NAPSR, and you’ll be eligible to sit for the CNPR national certification exam at no additional cost.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of the NAPSR Program, you'll:

  • Understand all pharmaceutical terms, definitions, and abbreviations needed to sell pharmaceuticals
  • Know the pharmaceutical industry, major product lines, and therapeutic categories
  • Understand the FDA's role in the industry, laws enforced by the FDA, the Hatch-Waxman Act, and regulatory compliance in drug labeling and promotion
  • Comprehend Medicare and Medicaid issues and how they affect the selling process
  • Understand research and development of new drugs, including stages and timelines of new drug development and clinical trials
  • Gain knowledge of government reimbursement programs, drug discount cards, major concepts and components of managed care, main stakeholders in the managed-care marketplace, drug marketing, and group-purchasing organizations

Requirements & Prerequisites

The official NAPSR Pharmaceutical Sales Training Manual will be provided to registered students by the NAPSR.

As a CNPR Program student, you’ll receive a membership to NAPSR, and you'll also be eligible to take the official NAPSR certification exam at no additional cost upon completion of your online training program.

Prerequisites

Students should be proficient in keyboarding, have a basic understanding of a word-processing computer program (Microsoft Word recommended), and have a command of English grammar and punctuation. No healthcare or medical-office work experience is required.

This program is for you if you're interested in learning job skills for pharmaceutical sales opportunities and if you're interested in becoming certified in this field.
