Classes on Aging

As the baby boomer generation ages, the number of senior adults experiencing the health and fitness results of aging is increasing exponentially. As a result, we offer classes that address caring for aging persons, useful for family members caring for their aging relatives and friends. Classes address dementia symptoms and the special needs of family caregivers for aging parents and family members suffering from dementia.

Description
In this course, you'll see how increasing scientific, clinical, and social interest helps us understand the relationship between nutrition and aging. You'll explore the characteristics of the healthy aging brain, and examine how cognitive function can be maintained into old age. The program also examines the ways physical activity can enhance well-being for seniors and uncovers the keys to longevity that allow some people to live to 100 years old. Finally, the program explores the role that intimacy and sexuality play in the health of seniors.

Description
As Baby Boomers age, the 21st-Century workforce becomes challenged to care for an exponentially growing population of persons with dementia. This two-month course provides essential knowledge and understanding about neurological diseases that affect cognition and memory, and discusses practical application of effective skills for supporting persons with dementia. Nearly all disciplines may benefit from expertise in Dementia Care Specialists, as do families of persons with dementia. Expertise in this growing area of human services can also enhance your resume. Come away with increased knowledge to care for persons with dementia.
