Welcome, Prospective Spider
As a private university, Richmond can use its resources and independence not only to serve traditional age college students, but also to provide enriching and meaningful undergraduate and graduate experiences for adult students and working professionals through the School of Professional & Continuing Studies.
Established in 1962 as University College, SPCS has been serving working professional for almost 50 years. We know and understand the needs of adult students. Our average student is 37 years old. Many are returning to school to complete bachelor’s degrees they started years earlier. Some are transferring from community colleges and other universities. And a growing number are pursuing graduate study.
Regardless of your educational goals, you’ll be part of a vibrant and inspiring campus, one of only a few true college campuses in Richmond with dedicated programs for adult students and working professionals. Walk the paths between our Collegiate Gothic buildings, cross the footbridge over our lake or attend an upcoming Information Session and imagine yourself as a student here.
Whether you’re attending class, looking for a quiet study space, researching your next paper, grabbing a bite to eat, or attending a cultural or athletic event, you’ll feel like a Spider through and through.
