Throughout the year we host a variety of events for prospective and current students. Highlights will be listed here, and a complete listing is available through our calendar page. For most events we provide an online form, or you may call our RSVP line at (804) 287-1204.

Alumni Events

If you’re a University College or School of Continuing Studies graduate, don’t miss events designed especially for alumni. In addition to the SPCS Breakfast Forum (see below), be sure to review other events for alumni.

Commencement

Awards Night will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2012, and Commencement will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. Cap and gown orders for Commencement are due February 5. Visit the Commencement page for more details and information.

Return-to-School Information Sessions

If you have considered starting or completing your undergraduate degree, or if you would like to advance your education by earning certification or teacher licensure, these events will provide the information you need to get started. We will discuss the programs available at the School of Professional & Continuing Studies, address tuition and financial aid issues, and answer the questions that most concern you.

SPCS Breakfast Forum

The School of Professional & Continuing Studies, in partnership with the SCS Student Government Association and the SCS Alumni Association, offers this monthly networking breakfast series for current students and alumni. Designed for working adults seeking professional networking opportunities, each event will take place in the morning. See our Breakfast Forum page for more details.

Tocqueville Symposium

March 28, 2012: “The U.S.-Mexico Paradigm in the 21st Century” features two Tocqueville Visiting Scholars who will discuss the complex U.S.-Mexico relationship in a public forum. The School is sponsoring this symposium in partnership with the Tocqueville Seminars, Office of International Education and Tecnologico de Monterrey.

Writing Center Workshop

The University Writing Center offers free workshops on writing skils, issues and situations encountered by our students. Visit the Writing Center to see a list of upcoming workships.
